I made a pot of coffee using a normal coffee maker and the power of the sun with our off grid solar panels.
I bought this coffee maker at a garage sale for only 50 cents just for use on our off grid solar panel bank. It is going to stay in the electronics lab for use out there as needed.
But for demonstration purposes today I brewed a pot of coffee using our off grid tiny house battery bank and a 200 watt solar panel. Right now I am rewiring all our panels to add more to the system to I rigged up a panel in order to recharge our batteries when I was done.
I put the coffee maker outside on a table near the power inverter and ran a short extension cord just to show that I was really using our solar panels and inverter to brew the coffee.
The pot of coffee was done in about 5 minutes. So I figured that we only used about 70 watts of solar power to brew this coffee. That is about 0.07 KWH of power used.
The batteries took a bit of a dip when the coffee was brewing but quickly charged right back up again when I was done.
It felt good to have a cup of coffee brewed by the power of the sun.
